EIC Fund
The EIC Fund aims to provide funding to startups and SMEs that develop or deploy innovative and disruptive technologies with high growth potential, as well as innovations that create an impact in the global market.
Description
The EIC Fund is the venture capital arm of the European Innovation Council (EIC), created to accelerate the growth of innovative tech companies in Europe. With a budget of over €3.5 billion, the fund supports startups, SMEs, and emerging companies in key sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, clean energy, and deep tech, among others, of medium capitalization that are financed under the EIC Accelerator. The EIC Fund offers funding in two modalities: equity financing and grant funding, adapting to the needs of companies at different stages of their development, from their initial stage to their international expansion. Additionally, it provides strategic support, access to an international network of investors and experts, and support for the internationalization of beneficiary companies.
The EIC Fund is designed to bridge the funding gap for tech startups with high innovation potential but that present high risks for public and private investors. With its long-term capital, the fund minimizes these risks, driving disruptive projects that could become future European unicorns.
The investment process includes a thorough evaluation by external experts, followed by due diligence overseen by the EIC Fund Investment Committee and a final decision by the Fund's Board. This rigorous methodology ensures that only the most promising companies receive financial support.
In summary, the EIC Fund is a key tool to strengthen Europe's position in cutting-edge technological innovation, generating a continuous flow of startups with the potential to change industries and markets globally.
