The call allocates up to 273 million for the healthcare sector and up to 240 million for the space sector in partially reimbursable grants for R&D and innovation projects.
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities is launching a call for R&D and innovation projects under the Cutting-edge Health PERTEs (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation). Out of the total of €513 million available for this grant call, up to €100 million may be allocated as non-reimbursable grants or equivalent subsidies, depending on the total volume of aid requested.
The call is financed with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and focuses on the development of R&D&I activities, scaling up, industrialization, modernization, and updating of manufacturing processes, digitization and technological updating, development and implementation of sustainable processes, within the context of new forms of public-private collaboration that are key for the implementation of the projects outlined in the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan and whose profile is of great capacity to drive economic growth, employment, and competitiveness in the Spanish economy.
Specifically, the specific objectives of the call are:
- Cutting-edge Health: Improve the health of the Spanish population through scientific knowledge, cutting-edge healthcare innovation, and data as transformation vectors.
- Aerospace: Transform the Spanish industry into a key player in addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with the major transformations expected in the short and medium term in the global strategic aerospace market.
Beneficiaries
Companies carrying out the following types of projects:
- Individual R&D projects for the creation or significant improvement of a production process, product, or service, which may include both industrial research activities and experimental development.
- Individual innovation projects to support companies in improving their competitiveness by incorporating emerging technologies, aimed at enhancing innovation in certain Spanish regions.
Requirements
The beneficiaries of the grants will be companies that are validly established, have their own legal personality, and have fiscal domicile in Spain, and are developing an R&D or innovation project in Spain.
The following are considered eligible investments:
- R&D Projects:
- The acquisition of new fixed assets that represent technological innovation and improvement of productive capacities in the company carrying out the project.
- Investment may be made in new tangible and intangible fixed assets:
- Tangible assets: assets consisting of installations, machinery, and equipment,
- Intangible assets: assets that do not have a physical or financial materialization, such as patents, licenses, technical knowledge, or other intellectual or industrial property rights.
- Innovation Projects:
- Personnel expenses, costs of equipment and materials, costs of contractual research, knowledge and patents, consulting and equivalent services, supplementary general expenses, and other expenses derived from the project. The expenses derived from the audit report are also eligible.
