Jorge Fernández and Jordi Adell, founders of Linnkers
We spoke with the founders of Linnkers, who told us how their people-centred philosophy has created a collaborative environment where business opportunities arise naturally.
What inspired the creation of Linnkers and how has networking evolved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem?
Linnkers was born because we saw that the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Madrid, while full of talent and potential, was too fragmented compared to other cities like Barcelona. Entrepreneurs, with their packed schedules and workloads, were each going their own way, limiting real connection opportunities. So, we decided to create Linnkers to be that meeting point where connecting and collaborating wasn’t just an extra but the foundation of everything.
What makes the Linnkers community unique compared to other networking spaces for startups in Spain?
What truly sets us apart is the quality of our members and the sense of belonging you feel at every event. Here, everyone feels they contribute and are part of something bigger. Our H2H (Human to Human) philosophy means that we care about real connection, not just business. At Linnkers, conversations flow, ideas are shared, and entrepreneurs come in knowing they’re in the right place.
What impact do networking events have on facilitating collaborations between startups from different sectors?
Our events are designed so that entrepreneurs in different sectors can meet and collaborate. When you create a space where hierarchies disappear and conversations are natural, it’s incredible to see how projects and ideas emerge that were previously unimaginable. This breaks down barriers, making the ecosystem more united and collaborative.
How do Linnkers events help generate business opportunities for the entrepreneurs who participate?
Linnkers experiences are designed so that attendees can be themselves and share their challenges openly. But the best part is how the spirit of helping spreads within the community. Here, everyone pitches in to lend a hand, and that energy is what makes business opportunities flow naturally, leading to real collaborations that last.
What are the most common mistakes at networking events, and how can these spaces be improved?
One of the biggest mistakes is going to an event thinking only about selling or getting something. That approach limits genuine relationships. At Linnkers, we believe in "People First": first listen, help, and connect genuinely, and you’ll see business follows naturally. We improve these spaces by making people feel comfortable to share and loosen up a bit from the formalities, because that’s where authentic connections happen.
What advice would you give entrepreneurs to maximise their opportunities at networking events?
Build your network before you need it, like when you buy insurance. Don’t go to events just looking to receive; go to meet people, help, and learn without expecting something immediate. That attitude creates authentic relationships that last. Do a bit of prep, see who will be there, and think about how you can add to the conversation. The rest will come naturally.
How do you see the future of networking events for startups, and what trends do you think will shape their evolution?
The future of networking events is heading towards personalisation and a mix of in-person and digital. This will allow more people to join and make the experience more complete. Additionally, themes like sustainability and purpose-driven innovation will be key to attracting entrepreneurs who are looking for more than just a simple meeting.
What opportunities arise from the presence of international investors in the Linnkers network?
Having international investors is a big plus. They don’t just bring capital, but also a vision and ways of working that enrich projects and open doors to other markets. This allows startups to think big from the start and explore new opportunities that would otherwise be more challenging to reach.
What role do community events play in attracting talent and investment to the entrepreneurial ecosystem?
Community events are a magnet for talent and investment. At Linnkers, we create spaces where people can show who they are and what they do in a real, no-pretence way. This enables investors and talent to see the genuine value of projects and people, creating an environment where opportunities flow naturally.
What is the value of public-private collaboration in the growth of the ecosystem between entities like Plataforma ONE and yourselves, and how does Linnkers contribute to this synergy?
Public-private collaboration is essential, although it can sometimes be challenging. The red tape and bureaucracy on the public side can discourage many entrepreneurs, especially if they don’t know how to navigate it. This is where Linnkers and entities like Plataforma ONE play a key role: we help build bridges and make access easier and friendlier. A good understanding between public and private sectors is essential for these collaborations to truly make a difference and benefit everyone.
